Family/Community Boat
Building Festival
Saturday and Sunday
June 20 and 21
at
Fond du Lac's Frazier Point (formerly "Stinky Point")
in Lakeside Park on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. and 9:00 A.M.
until noon on Sunday. Followed immediately by a boat parade through the
park to the "Big Hole". Enjoy lunch there and then watch the launching of
the boats and an "On-The-Water" boat parade.
The weekend will include building 18' wood canoes from kits.
On Saturday bring a picnic lunch (and purchase a "turtle sundae on a stick")
and enjoy displays of classic and antique boats and engines, and model
boats, including "popsicle stick" boats built by children at the Children's
Museum. Participate in a nautical swap meet. Checkout the FdL Public
Library Bookmobile's collection of nautical books and Langdon Divers'
tapes. The Library will sponsor a nautical craft activity for young children.
On Sunday at 11:45 watch the "Parade of Boats" as we trailer last season's
rowboats and this year's canoes and the kids' "popsicle stick" boats to the
Big Hole, where food will be available for purchase. At 1:00 watch the
launching of the boats. Sunday afternoon will include face-painting and
balloons provided by the Children's Museum. Take a boat ride, listen to an
Indian storyteller, watch a water research demonstration, tour the Yacht
Club.
